Jasper is one of those minerals that comes in many colors and subtypes. It is a type of quartz and/or chalcedony and other mineral phases. 

Ocean Jasper is also known as "Orbicular Jasper". It is one of the rarer forms of jasper, characterized by circular patterns, and is expressed in brown, green, blue, yellow, white, pink, red or gray colors. 

For the first time, this mineral was mentioned in 1922, but the location of the deposit was never found, due to difficult inaccessibility. So far, Ocean Jasper has only been discovered in one location, and excavation was only possible at low tide. 

Since 2006, this stone is no longer excavated, as the site has been exhausted.
