Nephrite Jade is one of the two mineral types of jade. Another type, which is even more noble, is called Jadeite.

Nephrite jade is a type of calcium, magnesium and iron rich amphibole minerals tremolite and actinolite.

In the vast majority of cases, Nephrite Jade is expressed in green and teal colors, and occasionally in yellow, brown or white. Since prehistoric times, its use has mainly been tied to decorative elements or amulets, but in BC it was also used as a tool due to its strength.

Sometimes there were also beliefs that Nephrite Jade cures kidney stones.

In BC, it was also used as the "imperial jewel" in China and was more desirable and valued than gold and silver. For some time it was also used as a means of payment.

The Maori from New Zealand call Nephrite Jade "tonga", which means treasure, and treat it that way. This special crystal has been protected in their area since 1840. There is a belief that it has magical power, which is why jewelry or amulets are passed down from generation to generation.

Today, Nephrite Jade is no less popular, as it is still considered to emit a very special energy.
